MU CAB CHANGING PROCEDURE

Keep in mind below things before cab changing in MU locomotive.

1. First secure the locomotive.
2. Before leaving cab , ensure direct brake application and BC pressure 5.2 Kg/cm2.
3. In ALCO MU first trailing Loco to be made leading , then incoming leading Loco to be made       trailing.
4. In HHP MU Loco first leading Loco to be made trailing then the trailing Loco to be made leading .

ALCO MU CHANGING

1. In incoming leading Loco which going to be trailing. Keep SA9 in application and remove reverser in neutral. Then go to trailing Loco to change to leading .
2. In trailing Loco which is going to be leading
          i   keep MU2B in lead
         ii   Open 3/4” BP COC
iii   Keep SA9 in Application and open its COC
iv  Keep A9 in release position open its COC
         v   Switch on MFPB1/2 and MCB 1/2.

3.  In incoming leading Loco which is now become trailing
i    Keep MU2B in trail position.
        ii   Close 3/4” BP COC
iii  Keep SA9 in release position and closed its COC
iv  Keep A9 in release and closed its COC
        v   Switch off MFPB1/2 and MCB1/2.
       vi   Switch off GF Switch.

Note :- 1. After cab changing ensure brake application and release in both locos.
            2. Keep EPG Switch enable in leading Loco and disable in trailing Loco.

  HHP SINGLE CAB MU

In incoming leading which is going to be trailing
     1.  Keep auto brake valve in FS
     2.  Keep direct brake valve in application and ensure 5.2kg/cm2 BC pressure.
     3. Keep LT Switch in trail
     4. Switch off ERS, GFS, FPS Switch.

In trailing Loco which is going to be leading
     1. Keep LT Switch in lead
     2. Ensure direct brake in Application and ensure 5.2kg/cm2 BC pressure.
     3. Keep auto brake valve is release position.
     4. Switch ON ERS, GFS, FPS Switch.

Note :-1.  In Siemens loco keep ERS, FPS switch on in both cabs.
           2. After cab changing ensure brake application and release in both loco.
3.First leading cab to be made trailing then trailing cab to be leading.

    DUAL CAB HHP LOCO MU

In incoming leading Loco which is going to be trailing
         1. Keep auto brake valve in FS
         2. Keep direct brake valve in Application and ensure 5:2kg/cm2 BC pressure.
3  Keep LT Switch in trailing.

In trailing Loco which is going to be leading
1  Keep LT Switch in lead
2  Ensure direct brake in Application and BC pressure 5.2 kg/cm2
3  Keep Auto brake valve in RUN position

Note :- 1. Ensure brake application and release in both the Loco.
            2. In siemens loco ERS, FPS shall be on in all the cabs.
            3. If in both cabs LT switch is in lead, the  PCS will knockout with fault code 72.

DEAD ENGINE ATTACHING PROCEDURE IN HHP LOCO.

In the recent days it was observed that all the  dead engine movements are done by  isolation of bogie COC to  avoid any brake binding. Sometimes if the outgoing LP or shunter forget to open the bogie COC and moved dead engine , this may leads to a major disaster.  If we follow the correct procedure of attaching dead engine we could avoid such instances.

Here is the correct step by step procedure of attaching dead engine in HHP loco.

1 First attach dead loco with working loco mechanically (coupling of CBC).

2. Drain all MR pressure in dead loco.

3. Open dead engine COC, and ensure 1.8 kg/cm2 pressure in MR gauge.

4. Partially open BCEQ and MREQ COC of dead engine in any one side.

5. Ensure brake application and release in dead engine by dropping BP pressure from leading working loco.

There are two types of dead engine COC in nose compartment . In CCB1.5 fitted lock there is dead engine coc, and in CCB 2.0 there is dead engine knob.
